USA 22 June: Portland, OR - Napavine, WA

Our morning began with Bansidhar running with his good friend Chrysalis; "the Hawaiian team" made its way through Portland.

My team took the torch over the Lewis and Clark bridge to meet the Cowlitz Valley Runners (CVR). Sarah and Auna - pictured above with Dhavala and Sunanda - carried to the torch to Longview City Hall.

Mayor Kurt Anagnostou welcomed the team. He was sorry he couldn't run with us as he did in the past, but was still overjoyed with our arrival.

We were very warmly greeted by the Castle Rock Senior Center. They all remembered us from last time and were excited to share some time together again.

We shared our route and mission with the folks who were news to our cause. See more images.

Then we dug into some ice cream with all the toppings, as we were treated to an "Ice Cream Social". Many of the runners had attended this fine event in 2006.

Myron, their spokesperson, had us all cracking up with his great sense of humor!

We're pretty sure they were enjoying themselves.

So much wisdom in one room!

Mayor Barbara Larsen offered some kind words and praised our efforts.

From Castle Rock the CVR ran with us all the way to Winlock, WA. In total the team ran with us over 28 miles!

Thank you CVR!

In Winlock we all took a stroll down Sri Chinmoy Street - a street named to honor the founder's efforts to promote world peace and harmony.

The PTSA treated us to a wonderful potluck at Winlock High School - our home for the evening. See more images.

Katie and Tori made sure we knew how to eat strawberry shortcake properly.

Thank you Winlock for being such an amazing host to us!
