USA 27 April: Atlanta, GA to Butler, GA

Our first stop of the day was at the Hindu Temple of Atlanta. Dr. Raju Vanapali very graciously greeted our return. He said he had been looking forward to our arrival for some time now. We had such a wonderful visit our last two times, so all the runners were quite eager for the experience.

Several families of the temple gathered to hold the torch.

We were then offered blessings in several forms by the priest of the Balaji Temple.

Our pilgrimage continued with another blessing and prasad at the Shiva Temple.

We were fascinated by the many rituals of the priests and the shrines throughout the temples.

Even amidst a renovation, the architecture of the temple was breathtaking.

Many children were learning and practicing chants. Some of them can recite from memory for over 15 minutes!

Receiving prasad, a traditional offering of blessed food.

We were also served a delightful Indian meal.

Some of us had seconds, ....some thirds.

The temple members all deeply admired the founder of the run,  Sri Chinmoy.

Our newest runner, Vladimir from Moldova, was chomping at the bit to get his hands on the torch and his feet on the pavement. Welcome Vladimir!

Enjoying a home cooked meal outside our home away from home. Eat and run, run and eat. Life is hard. :-)

Once again the Comfort Inn offers wonderful accommadations for our weary legs. We deeply appreciate their generosity!
