USA 15 April: Elizabeth, NJ to Slackwood, NJ
Our morning began with a ceremonial torch lighting in Queens, New York. The joy of the flame is inescapable!
Our starting team!
The World Harmony Run director let's us know that "You are Here."
Edi takes the first steps outside of New York as he leads the team into the greet the students of Winfield Scott Elementary No. 2.
We shared the message "Harmony begins with me." with an incredible crowd of about 100 children.
The children all held the torch and offered their wishes for world harmony.
Vilupti from Canada answers one of the many interesting questions the children posed.
Bansidhar shared a few words from Hawaii, much to the students' delight. Who doesn't love Hawaii?!!!
After our presentation 13 students who were chosen for their outstanding achievements as students and student leaders relayed the torch around the school yard.
Karen from Australia shares the natural harmony that emanates from the torch.
Principal Holly Mendesho was an excellent host. The pride in her students exuded from her. The third, fourth and fifth grade class gave us their rapt attention.
The students even asked for our autographs. Uddyogini signs one of the coloring books that we offered as a prize.
Spring is certainly abloom. Cherry blossoms greeted us along much of the route today.
Ours deepest heart's gratitude goes out to Tom and Ginny who have hosted us run after run. They are dear friends and always make us feel right at home - a nice feeling when you're heading away from home for up to four months.
