USA 6 June: Marysvale, UT to Mt. Pleasant, UT
Video of the first month in USA
The morning air at Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort was quite cool and very refreshing. Our first runner of the day, Francesco, was the lucky one to run the first miles on a newly made bike path along the foot of the mountain paralleling a small river. Last year some of us met a few workers there that were taking out the old railroad tracks along the foot of the mountain and building this new bike path. They said it would be done this year.
Now we were able to enjoy the fruit of their labor. Running so close to nature without traffic to dampen your spirits and only the sound of the river to carry you along in silence, it was a great way to start the day which eventually becomes quite busy and noisy.
Making our way to Richfield later in the morning, we ran to the Ashman Elementary School where we were welcomed by the Principal Teresa Robinson and about 30 children and staff.
Meeting out on the lawn in the shade of a huge tree, we shared with everyone a little bit about our backgrounds and experiences in our efforts for world harmony. Even though the children were quite young, some of them were able to grasp quite readily what we were doing and why.
They were all enthusiasm when we gave them the chance to run with us and their teachers around the playground with the Torch.
It always is a touching experience when each child also gets to hold the torch and make a silent wish for a better world and allow us to pass on their good wishes as we travel down the road once more.
As we moved down the road, or actually north along Rte. 89, the intensity and immensity of the snow capped mountains increased, uplifting our spirits and energy on every level.
We finally ended the day at the Horsehoe Mountain Lodge in Mt. Pleasant where we were fortunate enough to have our accommodations offered for the night by Sara, the manager. We also were happy to meet Carrie, who works at the front desk, and her Aunt Jana, and her parents Sherrie and Lloyd. Family is an important and solid foundation for harmony in the world and it always a thrill to meet happy and harmonious families and share our ideas with them.
Harmony, one of the housekeepers there, was thrilled to hold the Harmony Torch. Her parents had the right idea when giving her the name of Harmony.
We are again grateful to Harmony and all those who came out to greet us in Mt. Pleasant, including the wonderful surroundings of snow capped mountains, green pastures with healthy and friendly horses, and the clean cool air that seemed to refresh our spirits and bodies at the same time as we prepared for the next busy day on the road towards harmony.
