USA 21 April: Washington, D.C. to Ashland, VA

Washington DC

Overlooking the water across to the Jefferson Monument immediately gave the feeling of immensity and power that was to lie within.

Michal, Damon and I carried the Harmony Torch up the stairs and into the monument where we were greeted by many tourists and their families who were there also to marvel at the great spectacle and maybe unravel a few of Jefferson's eternal truths.

The people were extremely enthusiastic and receptive to the World Harmony Run asking about its origins and the inspiration behind all of it. Some even asked how they too could be involved!

Another beautiful day for the run. While standing there it felt like time stood still with a resonance of the true American Spirit and Goal of World Harmony.

A Man of Peace

A man in a pick-up with white hair and big brown eyes stopped next the World Harmony Run van and asked about what we are doing.

"I saw that other girl(Linda) running up the hill", he said.

After explaining our mission, he responded with tears in his eyes, "I would give up my life for world peace, if this would create peace on earth and between all people."

Even though it was raining heavily, he immediately jumped out of his car to put the stickers we gave him on his back window.

When I handed the torch to him he closed his eyes, took it very devotedly with both hands and I could feel all the positive energy coming from his heart and flowing into the torch.

Have a great day,

Elke

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

Archee Moffit here on the World Harmony Run. This is my first time on the run as a driver. I have also started my running career (fingers crossed). I did 1 1/2 miles the first day and have continued to do this each day. I feel tremendous harmony with the whole team and am extremely proud and grateful to be part of this year's women's team.

The Run has been fabulous opportunity to meet people who are inspired to hold the torch and share their goodwill in this world. It is the 5th day and I have been deeply touched by the people we have met at the school ceremonies, city halls and other community events.

A few days ago the Mayor of Rising Sun was so gracious to us and when she read the proclamation she was as deeply moved as were we. She gave each runner a pin with the town symbol on it and put it on our running hats. She actually took the day off to be with us. She inspired me with her joy and commitment to the World Harmony Run.

It seems the people of America are as great as the country they live in and it seems to me they truly value the spirit of the World Harmony Run. You can see it in their eyes as they hold the Torch and wish for something near and dear to their hearts.

With all my heart's gratitude,

Archee

Special Thank You

We would like to thank the Henry Clay Inn in Ashland, VA for providing the team with beautiful accommodations. The Henry Clay Inn is a historic georgian style country inn featuring 16 rooms and is close to a host of historic points of interest. The Inn is decorated with Antique Reproduction bedroom furniture featuring sleigh, pencil post, canopy, acorn post, and cannonball beds. There are also many fine Antiques throughout the Inn and it's wireless!

Thank to Pizza Hut for providing two thirds of the team with pizza and salad, in two different locations. One was in Washington, DC and the other was in Ashland, VA.
