Singapore 3 February
This morning the team was introduced to a new procedure, as the approximately 70 runners who joined us on our 21 km-journey through the city had to sign up first, due to city regulations! Therefore, the atmosphere was just like it is when we are about to start a race...
Water all the way...
Our first stop was at the Tampines Chinese Temple, a Taoist temple that has opened up to welcome everybody who wants to pray and meditate. Just recently renovated, 2 smaller temples were merged into one, which has now become the biggest Taoist temple in Singapore!
We were greeted by the Chairman Mr. Chua and the Vice Chairman, who had arranged a very nice buffet and the performance of a lion dance for the runners.
Our next stop was at the Darulaman Mosque. Ustad Jallaluddin Bin Hassan welcomed the Run and we then joined him in a prayer for peace to Allah .
Our last stop was at the Sri Guru Nanak Sat Sang Sabha Gurudwara Sahib Katang. A group of really sweet, enthusiastic kids greeted us, along with their leader.
The runners enjoyed watching an instructive Taekwondo lesson given to the kids, and a tasty meal.
We finished at the Merlion Park, a huge lion-fountain, a symbol of Singapore, the Lion City. At that point the weather, which had been perfect until then, complete with clouds to keep the runners (especially us Europeans) cool, decided to add some refreshment in the form of a substantial downpour!
Last but not the least, we like to offer our deepest gratitudes to Mr Pritpal Singh, the operation Director of Civic Ambulance Services for his continuous support and kind sponsorship for this event.
