Story: Franz's Day

Today was a really special day for me. We had quite a long distance to cover and almost everything through high mountains. It was only nature and us. The higher we ran, the more snow we had, passing snow-piles of more than ten metres height. It was quite cold running there especially when it was snowing or raining and pretty exhausting because it was often very steep for a long time. But although, I enjoyed it so much. I got so much energy from this pure air and beautiful nature.

For hours we didn‘t meet anybody. It seemed that we were the only people making their way through these mountains.

Suddenly, completely unexpected, out of the blue (white) there was a tiny little bar standing in our way on this mountain road. This bar was so thin and it seemed to have been broken already for a few times- maybe by a car that just went through. And next to the road there was a small hut and a sign that said something with self-service. So we just lifted the bar by hand and went through as suddenly a man looked out of the window and asked us for money. He was really sitting there the whole day waiting or one car coming through- what a job! After we paid him he returned to his seat and we continued running through the snow.

After some time we met four Norwegian guys who were telemark-skiing. We had  short chat and a picture with the Harmony-Torch. They were very sympathetic and nice.

As time and kilometres passed by our hunger grew and we were more and more looking forward to having a nice meal at a nice spot in the nature. Finally we reached a cute little village where we got us some French fries- finally something warm again- and fixed us a salad. After this stomachfilling incident we were well prepared to finish the remaining kilometres of the day to our sleeping place where we arrived at about ten pm. All in all a long but beautiful day.
