Images from Sites Visited in Oslo

Runners at Flame
To begin their tour of the Capital of Peace, Oslo, the runners paid a visit to a remarkable shrine for peace, the Eternal Peace Flame.

Runners with Torch at Flame
Aer Brygge, Stranden is the complex which houses the Eternal Peace Flame.

From across a causeway, the Flame is visible
The team assembles at the Flame.

The Runners are ready!
Fully assembled, deeply inspired - the runners are ready to tour Oslo!

Runners visit Ski Jump

Holmenkollen is one of Norway's most famous sites. A world class ski jump perched precariously on the side of a hill, Holmenkollen truly lets one know their threshold of fear! Imagining the jumpers, hurtling down the slope, as if to jump off the mountain entirely and fly down into the city is enough to rattle even the most grounded.

Peace Capital Plaque
Norway was inducted as a Sri Chinmoy Peace Capital, joining hundreds of other sites around the world in a unique program to foster oneness and harmony. A replica of the delcaration issued by the city government is on display at Holmenkollen.

With a skiier in spring training
Olso is filled with skiiers honing their skills on special equipment in the warm months of spring and summer. It is not unusually to see children like this one speeding down the street at frighteningly rapid velocities.

At the Peace Port
Renowned for its massive port area, Oslo places special emphasis on its relationship with the sea. In 1993, the Port of Oslo was dedicated by authorities as a Sri Chinmoy Peace Port - a declaration signifying Oslo's warmest aspirations and ongoing committment to making the Port a welcoming beacon to all and sundry who visit the capital. A plaque at the Pier of Honor, behind the City Hall, marks the dedication.

Behind the Radhus
Olso's City Hall (the Radhus) is a towering site at the Port. Visible from miles away, it serves as the focal point of Oslo's vibrant seaside scene.
