Today with enthusiasm we begin our 4 day journey in the port of Mazatlán, Mexico.

Hoy comenzamos con entusiasmo nuestra jornada de cuatro días con la antorcha de la Armonía Mundial en el puerto de Mazatlán, México.

We started early this morning in City Hall, where Mayor of Mazatlan, Mr. Alejandro Higuera Osuna received the WHR Team along with students, teachers and parents representing the schools which we are going to visit in the next few days.

Comenzamos temprano esta mañana en Palacio Municipal, donde el Alcalde de Mazatlán, el Sr. Alejandro Higuera Osuna recibió a nuestro equipo, como también a estudiantes, maestros y padres de familia representando las escuelas a las que visitaremos en los próximos días.

He was very excited to receive us and after shaking everyone´s hand in the room, he expressed his gratitude for bringing the Peace Torch to Mazatlan, which needs Peace with all the violence the city is suffering.

El estuvo muy emocionado al recibir la antorcha y después de saludar de mano a todos los presentes expresó su gratitud por llevar la antorcha a Mazatlán, la cual necesita Paz con toda la violencia que la ciudad está sufriendo.

The Mayor expressed the importance of Peace in the city by saying that the world needs peace, in our families, neighbourhoods, state and nation. We all need to do our part to better ourselves and in this way better the world.

El alcalde expresó la importancia de paz en la ciudad y dijo que al mundo le hace falta mucha paz, de manera global, en la colonia, en la calle en nuestras familias y en el estado y la nación y todos debemos poner nuestro granito de arena para mejorar y hacer de este un mundo mejor.

Our local coordinator, Lohita Glez. expressed her gratitude for receiving us and said: “Thank you very much Mayor for receiving us for the second time in this important event where the torch signifies the aspiration from within all of us. Peace is not the absence of war, peace is the presence of harmony, love and oneness of all human beings on earth. This was the goal of the founder of the WHR, Sri Chinmoy. His dream was that all human beings could live as brothers and sisters in this world of ours, without hurting one another. He left his legacy through sports, art, music and literature and has shown the world that we can make it happen as long as we allow it to. Thank you.”

Nuestra coordinadora local, Lohita Glez. expreso´ su gratitud por avernos recibido y dijo: “Muchas gracias Sr. Presidente Municipal por recibirnos por segunda ocasión este evento tan importante tan hermoso único en el mundo esta antorcha significa el anhelo que todos llevamos dentro. La paz no es ausencia de guerra la paz es la presencia de la armonía del amor y la unidad de todos los seres de la tierra, el fundador de la carrera de la armonía mundial y otros muchos eventos con este noble fin SRI CHINMOY el tuvo un sueño en que todos viviésemos como hermanos en el mundo sin hacernos daño con este sueño plasmo toda sus creatividad y amor por la humanidad en todo su trabajo, a través del deporte, del arte de su música y literatura y con su ejemplo incanzable le ha mostrado al mundo que todos podemos lograr lo que nos propongamos siempre y cuando luchemos por lograrlo. Kindergarten student Ixchel Alvarado Zambrano from Romana de la Peña shared her dream for a better world to the Mayor and a student from Justo Sierra Elementary School expressed his own dreams for World Harmony.

La niña Ixchel Alvarado Zambrano del Jardín de niños Romana de la Peña le expresó al Sr Presidente Municipal sus sueños por un mundo mejor. El niño de 4to.año de primaria de la escuela Justo Sierra expresó también sus ideales por un mundo de armonía y paz hizo mención del trabajo de Sri Chinmoy por la armonía en el mundo.

We offered a Torch Bearer Award Medal to the Mayor of Mazatlán for his contribution in bringing harmony to our city by keeping it safe for families.

Le ofrecimos una Medalla muy merecida al alcalde de la cd. De Mazatlán por su contribución a la armonía en nuestra ciudad manteniendo el orden y el bienestar en la ciudad y en las familias Mazatlecas.

We would like to thank the Mayor and his staff for receiving the World Harmony Run Torch in City Hall.

Le queremos agradecer profundamente al alcalde y a su gabinete por recibir la Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial en Palacio Municipal.

The World Harmony Run proudly supports the International Year of Youth (IYY) and the International Year of Forests (IYF) proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly.

See the recent Youtube video on African experience which illustrates IYY slogan "Our Year Our Voice"  International Year of Youth - Zambia World Harmony. They surprisingly mention Presidents and UN Secretary-General in a unique way!
