Mexico 9 November: Mazatlan

We started our first school ceremony at the Elementary School Mártires de la Revolución where students, teachers and parents received the Torch with excitement. Children waiving with white balloons and the band playing. Also our friends from the Media, local Channel 7 Mazatlán, TV Azteca and also newspapers from Primera Hora de Sinaloa, El Debate and Noroeste Mazatlan, interviewed our local coordinator. We would like to thank them for coming and for their support, we are very greatful!

Comenzamos nuestra primera ceremonia del día en la escuela primaria Mártires de la Revolución donde estudiantes, maestros y padres de familia recibieron con entusiasmo la Antorcha por la Armonía Mundial. Niños con globos blancos y la banda de la escuela tocando. También se encontraban presentes nuestros amigos de los medios de comunicación, el canal 7 de Mazatlán como también los periódicos Primera Hora de Sinaloa y el Debate, EL Sol de Sinaloa y el canal 13 de TV Azteca y el periodicoNoroeste quienes entrevistaron a nuestra coordinadora local. Nos gustaría agradecerles por venir hoy y apoyar el evento, ¡les estamos muy agradecidos!

We began the ceremony with welcoming words from the Director of the school, Mr. José Heriberto Sáenz who spoke about the importance of peace in the city and then giving the torch to his students to pass harmony from person to person and expand the peace we all carry inside ourselves.

La ceremonia comenzó con unas palabras de bienvenida del Director del Plantel, el Sr.Prfr. José Heriberto Sáenz en donde habló acerca de la importancia de la paz en la ciudad y otorgó la antorcha a estudiantes de su plantel para pasar la armonía de persona a persona y expandir la paz que todos llevamos dentro.

Student Ana Paulina Ruiz Tirado talked about the importance of harmony in the world and children did a dance for world harmony dressed in white holding flags from around the world. Great job!

La estudiante Ana Paulina Ruiz Tirado hablo´de la importancia de la armonía en el mundo y niños hicieron un bailable para la paz vestidos de blanco cargando banderas de todo el mundo. ¡Hicieron un gran trabajo!

At the end our coordinator Lohita Glez. thanked the school for having us and for sharing this beautiful message of Peace that the founder of the Run, Sri Chinmoy left for all of us to continue carrying in our hearts and to expand to the people around us and to the world at large.

Para finalizar nuestra coordinadora Lohita Glez. agradeció a la escuela por tan bello recibimiento y por ayudarnos a difundir este bello mensaje de paz que el fundador de la Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial, Sri Chinmoy nos dejó a todos para continuar expandiendo lo que existe en nuestros corazones de persona a persona hacia el mundo entero.

A group of students chosen by the school prepared themselves to start our Torch relay. Parents transported students at every other block to run to the next school carrying the Peace Torch. We would like to thank the parents for their help and support and also the local police for doing a magnificent job escorting the children for their safety. Thank you so much! And passing the torch from hand to hand we arrived to the next elementary school Graciano Sánchez where students cheering welcomed the World Harmony Run Torch.

Un grupo de estudiantes elegidos por la escuela se prepararon para comenzar el relevo de antorcha. Padres de familia sembraron a los niños en cada cuadra para correr con la antorcha hacia la siguiente escuela. Nos gustaría darles las gracias a los padres de familia por su ayuda y apoyo. También queremos agradecer a la Policía de Transito de Mazatlán por un magnifico trabajo al escoltar a los niños para su seguridad por las calles. Muchísimas gracias a todos por haber hecho posible el evento. Y así pasando la antorcha de mano a mano llegamos a la siguiente escuela primaria Graciano Sánchez donde estudiantes con mucho entusiasmo recibieron la Antorcha por la Armonía Mundial.

El Director de la escuela Graciano Sánchez, el Profesor Samuel González Verduzco y sus estudiantes estaban emocionados al recibir la antorcha por los estudiantes de la escuela Mártires de la Revolución.

At the entrance of the school children were waiving white balloons and the Director spoke of the importance of peace to the children, since they are our future and the city needs peace with all the violence. He was very grateful to us for bringing the Peace Torch to his school.

A la entrada de la escuela los niños tenian en sus manos globos blancos y el Director habló de la importancia de la Paz con los niños que ellos son nuestro futuro y la ciudad necesita paz porque hay mucha violencia. El agradeció de antemano por haber llevado la antorcha a su platel.

Our local coordinator Lohita, spoke of the message of the founder of the World Harmony Run, Sri Chinmoy, his message of Peace, that we are a world family and the importance of sharing this peace with others. Peace exists within ourselves and we must expand that peace.

Nuestra coordinadora local habló del mensaje del fundador de la Carrera por la Armonía Mundial, Sri Chinmoy, con su mensaje de paz que todos somos una familia en este mundo y la importancia de compartir esta paz con otros. La paz existe dentro de cada persona y debemos expandirla.

Children participated by reciting poetry for world peace, they had a little dance called: “Children from the world believe in love” and the students of the English teacher sang “We are the World”! Fantastic job everyone!

Los niños participaron recitando una poesía por la paz mundial. También bailaron “Los niños creemos en el Amor” y cantaron en ingles “Somos el Mundo”. ¡Todo salió precioso! ¡Muchas felicidades!

Alter the ceremony, students got ready to begin our relay run to the next school. Half way to the school 17 students from Maestro Justo Sierra joined us running until we arrive to their school.

Después de la ceremonia, estudiantes se prepararon para comenzar el relevo de la antorcha hasta la siguiente escuela. A la mitad del camino 17 estudiantes de la escuela Justo Sierra se unieron para correr con nosotros hasta llegar a la siguiente escuela.

Arriving at Elem. School Maestro Justo Sierra, students received the Torch with Peace Doves and with the World Harmony Run Theme Song which was composed by founder of the WHR, Sri Chinmoy. Professor Luz Oralia Ramos Leyva welcomed the runners and expressed her gratitude for choosing their school. Ceremony started with the Mexican flag and the school band playing.

Llegando a la escuela primaria Maestro Justo Sierra, los estudiantes recibieron la antorcha con palomas de paz y con la canción del tema de la Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial, compuesta por el fundador de la Carrera, Sri Chinmoy. La Profesora Luz Oralia Ramos Leyva dio la bienvenida a la antorcha y expresó su gratitud por haber escogido su escuela. La ceremonia comenzó con honores a la bandera y la banda de la escuela tocando.

Director of the school, professor Joel Ramos Sarabia welcomed the runners and he said to the children that they are our future and it´s in their hands to change the world, a change that we all desire by respecting one another to find peace. Also in the podium was the supervisor for the 026 school zone Luz Maria Ibarra Guzmán, thank you so much for all your support and being part of this event.

El Director de la escuela, el Profesor Joel Ramos Sarabia dio´la bienvenida a los corredores y habló muy bonito de la paz mundial. Como los niños son el futuro del mundo y está en sus manos el cambio que todos deseamos. Hay que respetarnos los unos a los otros para encontrar esa paz tan deseada. Tambien se encontraba en la mesa de honor la supervisora de la zona 026 Luz de Maria Ibarra Guzmán, muchas gracias por su apoyo y por ser parte de este evento.

Enthusiastic students participated running with the torch and also poetry, dance, art, music and singing! Thank you so much for a job well done! Their love and enthusiasm was felt by all members of our team and the entire school. It really was beyond expectation! Thank you all so much for everything and I´d like to thank teacher Luz Oralia Ramos Leyva for coordinating the event and all the teachers involved and parents that made possible this event and specially for Director Joel Ramos Sarabia for a wonderful welcome!!

Estudiantes muy entusiastas participaron por medio del deporte al correr con la antorcha y también por medio de la poesía, la danza, el arte y cantando! Muchísimas gracias por un trabajo muy bien hecho! Su amor y entusiasmo fue sentido por todos los miembros de nuestro equipo y toda la escuela. En verdad superó todas nuestras expectativas. Muchas gracias por todo en especial queremos agradecer a la Profra. Luz Oralia Ramos Leyva por coordinarlo todo y la maestra Berenice Hernandez Macias por su contribución y en general a todos los maestros y padres de familia que hicieron todo lo posible para que se hiciera este evento y en especial al Director Joel Ramos Sarabia por recibirnos.
