Latvia 13 September: Jelgava - Grenctale

Our last day in Latvia started with 3 school visits. The children from each school ran with us to the next. We even got to do some warm up excercises at one of the schools. Once again we had local runners helping us with the running and each school we came to on the way provided snacks.

Just a reflection of the great scenery.

Altogether, we had 3 schools and a sportsclub for people with special needs come to pass the torch around.

Each school was colour-coordinated.

Our city coordinator kept us busy.

So did the kids.

Silence is golden.

In awe of the flame.

We had a lot of people running through the traffic with us.

Even the grass was refreshed.

In Platone too, there were many people to meet us!

Trying to follow along with the World Harmony Run song.

These feet were made for running and are ready to go.

The school, the sportsclub, the kindergarten and the representative of the community all came to the ceremony.

Taking a photo of a photographer, while everyone else runs away.

Listening to the talking dome.

This photo was taken at the school in Platone and presented to our countrycoordinator at the meeting in Eleja, where we met the same representative again. They were very quick to print this picture!

The school's teacher received a World Haromony Run shirt. Will you come to run with us next time?

The leaves are already beginning to fall as our run moves on towards its goal.

Onward to Rundale Pils, a magnificent castle, where the representative of sports for the region received us with sweet treats.

A symbolic lap around the castle fountain.

A balancing act, which the World Harmony Run so often is.

The members of the sportclub ran with us to the next place.

The torch reaches new heights.

Our last meeting of the day, in the sporting city of Bauska. We received drawings celebrating the run.

The Vice-Mayor warmly welcomed us. His sport is high-jump.

Apaguha proudly shows the drawing he was given.

A police escort guides us to the border.

The final steps and the Lithuanian flag is unfurled.

Passing the torch to our Lithuanian friend.

Hello to our Lithuanian friends and farewell to our Latvian friends, we enjoyed very much our stay in your country. You did a great job and took good care of the team and the Run. Thank you once again!
