Lithuania 14 September: Latvian border - Moletai

We started the day again at the Lithuanian border near Zarasai, where a local runner joined us.

Rose starts the day off.

The VIPs were happy to receive us and to hold the torch.

We were entertained by this cheery fellow.

The Mayor took the first steps with us as we continued to the next city.

And the sportsclub also joined.

A rural portosan?

A big group of students ran with us into the city of Visagino.

A traditional welcome.

A small ensemble sang and performed flute music for us. It was beautiful!

The Crane is the city symbol.

Our Lithuanian friend (on the left) is running with us from border to border.

That is where we started...

The runners enjoyed a sunny day.

Sumahat found an alternative Harmony Run torch.

Nature's beauty.

Even butterflies want to join the Run.

Halfway along our route today, we came to Ignalina. We were happy to run with these local athletes.

The Mayor and city representatives were happy to receive us to their sporting city.

Newspaper reporters were eager to take note.

As a gift we got books about the many good athletes that came from this city.

Flat road?

Hunting for mushrooms is serious business.

The prize.

A spiky golf ball?

Pedja - former ship's captain.

Give him the torch, receive a gift.

No, it is not a space port. It is the Etno-Kosmologic Museum.

We come in Peace and Harmony.

One of the founders of the museum gave us an introduction to this very special place and extraordinary building.

There are five different rooms in the museum, each with a different theme.

Nice pictures from NASA. Really from the moon, or made in the studio of Area 51?

Centuries ago mankind already used the stars for predicting seasons, time and date. Now we still don't really know what is 'out there'.

Alien's head?

Looking down on Planet Earth

In the museum there was also an exhibition of glass sculptures, the work of Jonas Simonelis. They were really beautiful.

Thanks for the excursion in your museum!

Fiery clouds reflect the sun.

What a way to end the day!!!!!
