France 30 June: Paris

Paris, Paris, Paris... what else can we say? The city of light received the run for two consecutive days. It was time for our team to say farewells to some of our runners and welcome others.

In the 20th district of the city Jean-Marc, a young priest, received the torch most kindly in Notre Dame de la Croix de Ménilmontant. In this popular arrondissement of Paris, this church is connected with a mosque and synagogues to undertake social projects.

Pierre revealed to us a Parisian secret - the typical Hausmanian buildings that are the symbol of the city always have free and secure access to the roof. As we had a short break before the next meeting, we explored a fabulous panorama that only a very few privileged people know.

A few streets further on we arrived at the Airelles, a residence for aged persons; it is also a place where people from the families of the neighbourhood meet together.

Just like our international team, the residents come from the five continents. Some of our runners met people from their own countries and had the chance to share experiences together.

Paris is a place where you could run for hours, from a fascinating church to a huge Museum.

We received the following message from the Mayor of Paris:

"It is with pleasure that I acknowledge the presence of the World Harmony Run runners in Paris. On behalf of all Parisians, I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to the entire team of runners for its courage, performance and dynamism. I hope that everyone receives this invaluable message, that speaks of the wonderful challenge of being human, with emphasis on the sharing and friendship between people. Yours very sincerely, Bertrand DELANOE "
