USA 19 July: Hastings, MN - Winona, MN

A great thanks to Dick and Pam Thorsen and the staff at the Classic Rosewood Historic Inn, one of our favourite places to stay! They really embraced us as family and gave us the run of their beautiful inn. We enjoyed a peaceful and cosy night in our traditionally decorated rooms.

Sadly Dick was recovering from surgery but we were happy to get to see him in hospital. All the best for your recovery.

Many thanks to the Du Luc mansion in Hastings for giving us some fresh garden produce!

We enjoyed some cooler weather today which made running much easier. Ismail who is from Istanbul, Turkey joined us for the day and was deighted to point out that while he was running near Rochester the European run was visiting Istanbul.

We than had a delicious lunch with Yuyudhan's parents in Rochester. Unfortunately the photos didn't turn out so we got these from two years ago - and the amzing thing is his parents actually look younger now!!!

Their secret of eternal youth must be in the amazing pies they always make us :-}

We got an enthusiastic response from the Boys and Girls Club in Rochester.

A group of teachers were very excited to find us out running and enjoyed an opportunity to hold the torch.

Our campground on the banks of the Mississippi.
