USA 12 May: St. Louis, MO - Mount Sterling, MO

We left St. Louis with fond memories and were excited to run through more of Missouri. Our enthusiastic welcome at Hudson Elementary School in Rock Hill was a great beginning to a new day.

Children joined together in friendship and harmony.

Dennis Naegeli, a great guidance counselor at the school, helped to organize the event.

Mayor Julie Morgan (right) and Alderwoman Mary Wofford made a point of showing how important harmony is in the lives of the citizens of Rock Hill.

Mayor David Wilson of Manchester (center) and the city commissioner (holding the torch) welcomed the runners to their vibrant city.

Principal Meg Chapman and Superintendent Veann Tilson warmly welcomed the runners back to Beaufort Elementary School. Beaufort has become a consistent highlight for us over the last several years on our way through Missouri. In addition, the school generously provided us with lunch.

Sheriff Toelke received the Torch Bearer Award for his dedicated and selfless-service to his community. He is a true pillar of goodness.

Every child had the opportunity to run with the torch...

and get autographs from the runners.

Jena Brooks (right) and fellow teacher Diane Kandlbinder of Gerald Elementary School ran with us past the cheering children and into the school.

The children were amazed by all of the different countries that we come from, and equally amazed at the bird that flew into the gym.

These Native Americans were members of the Longest Walk. We were fortunate enough to meet them on their journey from San Francisco to Washington, DC. They are walking to share the message that all life is sacred and it is our responsibility to protect mother earth.

General Manager Betty LaMantia and her kind and generous staff at the Truman Hotel and Conference Center in Jefferson City were our hosts for the evening. Their hotel and hospitality are first rate and we are very grateful to them for supporting the World Harmony Run.

For the second time in a row Panera Bread supported the World Harmony Run. GM Liz Benz was once again kind and generous towards us and the store manager Jennifer Rulo and her staff were cheerful and took great care of us. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. Thank you!
