USA 9 December: Maui

We saved the best state for last - having run 10,000 miles throughout the 48 contiguous states and having flown to Alaska we are delighted to finally bring the torch to Maui, Hawaii.

This morning our Hawaiian journey began at the Montessori school of Maui with the students presenting us with beautiful, fragrant leis.

We met with and shared the spirit of the run with the students through two presentations, first with the younger students and then with the older students.

Each group was very interested to hear our experiences and share their own inspirations for a more hamonious world.

Everyone had a chance to feel harmony in their hearts.

After our presentation we went outside and run around the school yard with the torch - which was lots of fun.

Shambhu, the first and foremost exectuive Director of the Peace Run (precursor to the World Harmony Run) joined us and took great delight in passing the torch to the students.

Shambhu also bumped into President Obama while we were in Maui (or at least a cut out of him)

The students held the torch and passed their hopes and dreams for a more harmonious world to one another.

All the young students from the Maui Montessori school.

Our second school engagement was at the nearby Makawao Elementary school.

Here we met with the kindergarten and first grade students.

We presented the teachers with a certificate of appreciation for having us visit their school.

The students were very polite and gave us their undivided attention. Thank you.

The beautiful "Bird of Paradise" flower.

One of Maui's magnificent cloud scapes.
