USA 7 June: Marysville, UT to Nephi UT

Today was one of those days, the RV broke down, we were missing one car due to repairs and one of our runners got lost – twice!

Oh well we fixed the RV, got the car repaired and found our runner, so it all turned out well with a happy ending.

Arpan and I ran 19 miles between us and finished in the small Utah town of Nephi. As I was just coming up to the support vehicle (Stripey) some children were yelling out to me.

I went over and they were all wriggling around in their car and squeezing out the window together. They were about 6, 8 and 10 years old, and their names all started with the letter K and their middle names all started with A they proudly informed me. One of them reached back into the recesses of their car and like magic a small black ball of fur appeared called “Mitz-Fitz” – their dog.

Their father, who I never actually saw was apparently in the hardware store buying supplies as they were moving house. You don’t see their photo here because I didn’t have my camera – too bad.

I headed off to the car to get the camera and next thing you know another young girl is yelling out. This twelve year old turned out to be the proprietor of a sno-cone stand in the middle of town called the Sno Shack.

She very kindly offered myself and Arpan a sno-cone which we gratefully accepted. We both got pink lemonade flavour – YUM!!

Having finished our run we drove over a nearby mountain pass to our lovely accommodations for the night very kindly provided by the Horseshoe Mountain Resort .

We had a lovely dinner very kindly provided by the Horseshoe Mountain Resort Restaurant.

So what began as a somewhat trying day turned out to be very rewarding.
