Russia - China 22 May

The run from Chita (Russia) has now finished in Hailar (China)...
The International part of the World Harmony Run from Chita (Russia) to Hailar (China) is over. The relay started in Chita on May 8 at the monument dedicated to Military and Working Glory of Zabaycalie and finished on 17 May on the main square of the town of Hulunbuir.

There were participants from 10 towns across Russia: Chita, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Nizny Novgorod, Vladivostok, Nahodka, Omsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Borzia. The team ran over 516km from Chita to Manjuria. On their path were eight towns, and in each of them concerts, meetings, and races with schoolchildren and administration were organised. On roads people stopped their cars and ran with the Torch to make their contribution to World Harmony. Altogether 2500 people held the Torch. Radio and TV in Chita followed the news about the relay. On May 15 the team crossed the Russian-Chinese border and received a warm welcome from the Mayor of Manjuria, Yuin Guan Jhun, and other officials, on the square called "National Gates".

The Run in China has started. Chinese sportsmen ran with our team against powerful wind to the park called "Red Army" where a ceremonial welcome was held, and flowers were put at the monument in memory of Soviet soldiers. The orchestra was playing "Moscow Nights".

On May 16, at the National Square of Manjuria, a colorful Festival of Friendship was held. Hundreds of people came to welcome the World Harmony Run. A member of the local administration, Mr. Yan Han Jhun, gave a speech and lit the torch. The Mayor of Manjuria gave a signal and hundreds of doves soared up in the sky.

In China sportsmen, miners, nurses, children and even soldiers took part in the World Harmony Run. The team was welcomed by local administrations and local people in national costume. On the road to Hulunbuir hundreds of children with flowers stood and welcomed the athletes. In Hulunbuir a great celebration took place. Balloons and kites were flying in the sky. A member of the local administration received the Torch and doves were released. Afterwards there were a number of performances. In the afternoon the runners honoured the "Red Army" Monument and planted two Pine-trees of Friendship.

On May 18 the team returned to Russia.

Завершилась международная часть Всемирного бега дружбы, прошедшая по маршруту Чита (Россия) - Хайлар (Китай). Эстафета стартовала 8 мая в Чите около памятника, посвященного боевой и трудовой Славе Забайкалья, и завершилась 17 мая на главной площади города Хулунбуира.

В эстафете приняли участие бегуны из 10 городов России: Читы, Красноярска, Москвы, Нижнего Новгорода, Владивостока, Находки, Омска, Иркутска, Улан-Удэ, Борзии. Команда пробежала 515 км от Читы до Манчжурии. Участники эстафеты пробежали через восемь городов, в каждом из которых были организованы концерты, встречи, пробеги с участием школьников и администрации. На дорогах люди останавливали машины и бежали с Факелом, чтобы внести свой вклад в дело дружбы во всем мире. Всего факел держали 2500 человек. Радио и телевидение Читы передавало новости эстафеты. 15 мая команда пересекла Российско-Китайскую границу. Мэр Манчжурии Юинь Гуан Жун и другие официальные лица оказали бегунам теплый прием на площади Государственных Ворот.

Пробег по Китаю начался. Погода была очень ветреной. Китайские спортсмены пробежали вместе с нашей командой к парку Красной Армии, где прошла церемония приветствия, а также были возложены цветы к памятнику памяти советским солдатам. Оркестр исполнял «Подмосковные вечера».

16 мая на Государственной площади Манчжурии состоялся красочный фестиваль Дружбы. Сотни людей собрались, чтобы приветствовать Всемирный бег дружбы. Член местной администрации г-н Жун произнес речь и зажег факел. Мэр Манчжурии подал сигнал, и в небо взмыли сотни голубей.

В Китае в Беге дружбы приняли участие спортсмены, шахтеры, медики, дети, а также солдаты. Команду приветствовала местная администрация и местные жители в национальных костюмах. По дороге в Хулунбуир спортсменов встречали сотни детей с цветами. В самом Хулунбуире состоялась замечательная праздничная церемония. В небо взмыли воздушные шарики и воздушные змеи. Член местной администрации принял Факел и дал команду выпустить голубей. Затем состоялся ряд выступлений. Днем бегуны торжественно посетили памятник Красной Армии и посадили две сосны дружбы.

18 мая команда вернулась в Читу.
