Netherlands 25 June: Waalre - Nijmegen
After starting from Waalre early in the morning, we picked up some new Dutch world harmony runners from the train station in Eindhoven and continued on to our first meeting for the day, at 'de Opbouw' Primary School, where Grade 6 and its teacher were waiting for us. We had a lot of fun with them, as you can see!
Na een vroege start in Waalre, hebben we nieuwe Nederlandse world harmony runners opgepikt van het treinstation in Eindhoven en daarna hadden we al de eerste ontmoeting bij basisschool 'de Opbouw' waar groep 6 en hun leraar ons opwachtten.

All the kids, with their teachers and some parents were eagerly waiting for us!
Alle kinderen en de leraren en ouders stonden enthousiast op ons te wachten!
They gave us a reception that was almost unprecedented! The kids welcomed us with a beautiful song, on flutes it was rumoured they had made themselves...
Ze gaven ons een waanzinnig welkom! Met fluiten die ze zelf gemaakt hadden, speelden ze voor ons een prachtig lied...
...and received the light from our torch.
...en daarna ontvingen ze onze fakkel.

This teacher helped the kids (who eagerly betrayed him!!) with the country-guessing game, and now he has to run around the kids as a penalty.
De leraar had de kinderen geholpen met het landen-raad-spel. Omdat zij hem verraden hadden, moest hij een rondje om de kinderen rennen.

Orange is the Dutch national colour and you can see it everywhere now, with world championship soccer going on!
Oranje is de Hollandse kleur en die zie je nu overal, met het wereldkampioenschap voetbal wat gaande is!
In the next city, Veghel, Udea, a large company trading organic fresh goods, very kindly sponsored us with a wonderful lunch of the highest quality!
In de volgende stad, Veghel, verzorgde Udea, een groot bedrijf met organische verse waren, voor ons een lunch van de beste kwaliteit!
Yvonne arranged it! (Sorry, the torch had to be extinguished because of the fire alarm.)

They had kids of so many different nationalities attending this school, they easily beat us at the country-guessing game...
Ze hadden zo veel kinderen van verschillende nationaliteiten op deze school, ze versloegen ons heel eenvoudig bij het landen-raad-spel...

Afterwards the route continued towards Nijmegen for the final 40 kilometres. Some nature to enjoy!
De route vervolgde richting Nijmegen voor de laatste 40 kilometer. Genieten van de natuur!

En heerlijk autorijden!
On the outskirts of Nijmegen (the oldest city in Holland), we met with seven runners from the Seven Hill running team. It took less than a moment to become true friends!
In de buitenwijken van Nijmegen (de oudste stad van Holland) ontmoetten we zeven hardlopers van Seven Hill hardloopteam. Het duurde niet lang voordat we vrienden waren!
They joined us for a five kilometre run to the city hall.
Ze liepen vijf kilometer met ons mee naar het stadhuis.
Honestly, they had to be gentle with us because they were much faster runners!
Eerlijk gezegd, moesten ze zich inhouden, want ze waren veel sneller dan wij!
Mister Tas from the city parliament, and responsible for sports in the city of Nijmegen, received us very, very warmly.
Meneer Tas van het stadsbestuur, verantwoordelijk voor sport in Nijmegen, verwelkomde ons zeer, zeer hartelijk.
He couldn't wait to run with us!
Hij kon niet wachten om met ons mee te rennen!
We even received t-shirts saying "Nijmegen Always".
Ook kregen we een t-shirt: Altijd Nijmegen.
Harmony Run proudly supports. The goal of our Run is also to unite people from different cultures and backgrounds in a spirit of friendship and harmony.
Today we ran about 80 kilometres.
Binnen kregen we iets te drinken en maakten we een groepsfoto. Aan de linkerkant op onze vlag is het logo te zien van het Internationale Jaar voor de Verbintenis van Culturen, een UN / UNESCO intiatief dat de World Harmony Ru van harte ondersteunt. Het doel van onze Run is ook het verenigen van mensen uit verschillende culturen en achtergronden in de geest van vriendschap en harmonie.
Vandaag hebben we ongeveer 80 kilometer gelopen.
