Montenegro 11 August: Zabljak - Border with Serbia

It's not so much the colours in Montenegro, but the tones that are so riveting (except for the beautiful colour of the water which, because it is so chilly, is a pristine shade of turqouise). Something tells me that after running these hills, a few Harmony runners may be bold enough to dare a refreshing swim...

A canyon bridge en route makes no one woozy - we handle anything that comes.

Joined for a while by two inspired French gentlemen, who are proud to carry the torch.

Pljevlja from afar - a booming town, situated on the Montenegro / Serbia border. Montenegro has a population of only 650,000 in total!

Fireside friendships flourish fairly often on the run.

Enthusiastic support offered by city council members in Pljevlja reminds us why we scale these mountains. We are happy to have our first time in this region.

Though it is rumoured that the entire Balkan population deserts its towns each August and heads for the beach, we find a few local boys to accompany us as we enter town.

Sandra, shades off inside please - look at lovely Emese, her shining eyes. Although you do look mighty cool, truth be told!

It is always nice to be enticed to the roadside for a photo op and torch wish when putting in a day's kms.

Road-warrior Roos leads her Montenegro teammates par excellence. On the right is Natalie, our wonderful local coordinator; we love her fresh ideas.

The day ends at another bottomless mountain lake, nature's perfect shower and the team's favourite place to unwind.
