Ireland 19 March: Arrival of the international team

From all corners of the world, our international team have begun arriving in Dublin to begin a 14 day journey around the entire island. We had a planning meeting this morning, with the opportunity to shoot a few nice photos...

Everyone clearly in good form and looking forward to the run: - from left we have Colm Magee and Sundar Dalton from Ireland, Purnendu Knezevic from Serbia, Matthias Eckerle from Germany, Adhiratha Keefe from USA and Aivaras Zydelis from Lithuania.

The winners of the 'longest travelled to get here' award...on the left we have third-placed Boijayanti Gomez-Badillo from Puerto Rico (via New York, where she currently resides).  But the joint first place goes to sisters Rupashri and Kallola Brown, all the way from Auckland, New Zealand.

More team members have still to come - Katka from Czech Republic and Svetlana from Russia, Standa and Baridhi who are (as we speak) driving the World Harmony Run van all the way from Austria, and not forgetting our Executive Director, Salil Wilson, who will join us on Saturday morning.

The runners will visit two schools in the Dublin area.  Then the runners will begin their epic journey at 10.30am Saturday at the Custom House in Dublin, as the Run is launched by former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern T.D, who will also be presented with the World Harmony Run's Torch Bearer award, in recognition of his tireless work for harmony in the island of Ireland.

We will be joined by running clubs from all over Dublin for a7.5k loop around the city, ending again in the Custom House at 12.30pm. We will be carrying with us our World Harmony Run Torch which has been held by millions of people from all around the world. The run will be at easy pace, and anyone - young or old - is more than welcome to join us!

After that, the international team of runners will  head northwards to begin their 2 week, 1400 km journey around Ireland, arriving back in Dublin for the closing ceremony on April 3.
