Hungary 20 September: Oroszlany - Budapest
Today is a new day, with running as usual, but today we also have some special activities in the program!
In the morning we were welcomed by the mayor of Oroszlany.
Talented majorette-girls performed for us.
The mayor held an inspiring speech about peace, friendship and harmony.
Csaba and Kinga got also a "Torch Bearer Award" for their afforts for harmony and sports. We would like to thank them for supporting our Run, and for their help with organizing this day.
81 Year-old Otvos Kerenc, a famous marathon runner, ran with us from this meeting to the next. Very inspiring!
Right before we reached Kornye, the local football-team was waiting along the road to join us.
Together we arrived at the community house and there in the garden we planted a Gingko Tree, for Harmony.
Our next meeting was in Tatabanya, where we were recieved by the Representative of the City for the Sports, Cultural and Youth Committee.
He spoke very kind words about Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the Run. And he said: " The shortest way to solve problems, is with a smile. This is the way we should deal with friends, family and every other person."
Then we continued our run to the next special place, the Tarjani AMK Elementary School in Tarjan.
The mayor explained us about the school, that some of the lessons are also given in German. It's a bi-langual school.
Our next warm welcome we got in Zsambek, were dancers performed for us a traditional dance.
Then we had something very special on the program: we let white doves fly for harmony!
One, two, three........GO!!!
At the next meething in Paty, the children were reading for us several poems and speeches from people that made important steps for harmony, peace and friendship such as Mother Theresa and Martin Luther King.
When we asked the teacher why she was running with us on high heels, she said: " I promised the children to run with you, so I had to do it!"
Then the kids performed different dances for us, in all different styles.
In between the running and the meetings, we had time for another special happening: The Birthday Celebration of Mari. Happy Birthday!
Before we reached the last town, scouts came to run with us.
It was already quite late when we arrived at the Cultural House in Budakeszi, where the director welcomed us kindly. She told us about all the sports activities that are organized in this town. It was very impressive.
