Great Britain 16 June: Onich - Glasgow

Glencoe Primary was our first stop for the day and they made sure we got off on the right foot.

We joined the students in singing a couple of hymns before heading outside to run around a little.

Some of the kids had to change their shoes and their classmates were only too happy to lend a helping hand.

Wisdom seen on a classroom wall.

Running can be so much fun.

This school certainly had a beautiful backdrop of mountains.

Getting a stamp to prove you've visited all the continents.

Thanks so much to Glencoe Primary.

The glacial valleys of Scotland are truly stunning.

Hiking is very popular in Scotland and we are always bumping into eager walkers interested in our journey and message.

Teekhnata, from San Diego, enjoys these misty mountains.

Shaddhra, from Latvia, weathers the cold.

If you don't like the weather in Scotland...just wait a minute.

This lone tree caught our eye.

The shore of Loch Lomond brought back memories of much loved Scottish songs such as "Bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond." We revelled in singing this song as we made our way along those very bonnie banks.

Before you knew it, we'd left the misty highlands and were in the quaint village of Luss visiting the local primary school.

Making a wish with the torch.

We always invite the children to join us on a symbolic journey around the world.

We then make sure each child gets a stamp to commemerate their visit to each continent.

The Luss primary school received an award for their ecological initiatives and the students were delighted with this significant achievement.

We presented the head teacher with a Harmony Tree which they were going to plant later. This fits nicely with the spirit of the International Year of Forests (IYF) proclaimed for 2011 by the UN General Assembly.

The school gave us a great send-off.

Our dinner was hosted by Baliya Sommerville, an avid gardener and fabulous cook.

In 2002 Baliya arranged for this strain of rose to be officialy named "Sri Chinmoy Rose" in honor of the Run's founder, Sri Chinmoy. The rose is extraordinary with an exquisite fragrance.

The World Harmony Run proudly supports the International Year of Youth (IYY) and the International Year of Forests (IYF) proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly.

See the recent Youtube video on African experience which illustrates IYY slogan "Our Year Our Voice"  International Year of Youth - Zambia World Harmony. They surprisingly mention Presidents and UN Secretary-General in a unique way!
