Great Britain 24 June: Dover - Boulogne

Our final day in England! We started by visiting schools in Dover.

In the assembly hall the children asked us some interesting questions and sang a song entitled A Lazy Afternoon. This was very apt because we had actually planned a lazy afternoon for that very day. Then they led us outside for a run.

Several of the children had just returned from a visit to France and were keen to talk with our French runners.

The little ones were a little more shy….

To a resounding cheer we made a final lap and ran 200 metres up to a secondary chool. Here we surprised the students by arriving from the wrong direction.

It was quite a distraction to other students in their classrooms.

The students gave us a good send off and then we ran down to the docks and jumped on a ferry. A couple of hours later we were in France – in the picturesque town of Boulogne. Here we celebrated the passing of the team captaincy from our British coordinator to our French coordinator.

We were joined and encouraged by enthusiastic passers by.

A local running club guided us on a 2km run along the beach.

We finished the day at the Nausicaa Museum and Aquarium in the heart of Boulogne.

We would very much like to thank the ferry companies LD Lines Trans Manche Ferries and Sea France.
