England 15 May: London

The World Harmony Run left Cambridge in the morning, heading south toward London, to Vicars Green Primary School in Alperton.

Our visit to this school was the only event on the schedule and we had no idea what was planned at the school.

Upon arrival, we were led into the school gym to rapturous applause and cheering, and were surrounded by children.

We were offered seats and the afternoon's program began with a welcome from Vicars Green Cheerleaders.

The Runners were then treated to a beautiful and favourite song sung by the children, Lean On Me; this is always a powerful song when sung from the heart and the children did the song justice.

Next, the school presented poems that the children had written.

Afterwards I spoke to the Music teacher, Liz Sharma (pictured below) who had helped the children create a musical spectacular called Wind Dragon. She said that it had taken 9 months to write all the music and that they had had a tremendous performance last year.

Shalom, my friends.

The program continued with poems and with songs by the choir and the school orchestra, and culminated with a song sung by everyone. It was a very moving experience that took a tremendous amount of work and dedication. Well done Vicars Green.
