United Arab Emirates 11 January: Dubai

The World Harmony Run 2009 started in Dubai!

We were excited to be back in the Emirates - a truly multi-cultural and multi-ethical society!

The Burj Dubai - the tallest building in the world (810m) - greeted us from afar...

As Sunday is a school-day in the Arab countries, we had our first appointment right after our arrival in the Emirates.

Kids from the Emirates International School in Jumeira waited for us at the school gates and carried the torch into the school grounds...

An enthusiastic crowd gave us high-fives as we arrived at the field...

At the Emirates International School there are kids from more than 80 nations! We really enjoyed the international flair!

At the presentation we invited kids to come up and speak about their ideas for peace and harmony.

We got unusually smart comments from all of them!

Teachers also held the torch...

A symbolic run with all the teachers is a special highlight for most of the kids!

All the kids passed the torch and offered a wish for harmony!

Angela had to fight hard to reclaim the torch....

A final run with all the kids ended the event! Thanks to all the teachers and kids for this great meeting!
