Canada 8 June : Winnipeg
Friday morning the World Harmony Run arrived at KIDSFEST located at The Forks/Les Fourches, a popular gathering and shopping area where the Red and Assiniboine rivers meet.
The harmony torch was passed around...
...team member Adrien set up a crafts table to create peace-birds...
...and Flicker the Clown initiated a game of balloon volleyball!
Sheltered beneath a roof from the rainy weather, birds, kids and runners stayed dry!
In the afternoon the weather cleared just in time for the team to arrive at the Winnipeg Mennonite Elementary School. After watching the international World Harmony Run video in the gym and Flicker tried to use a croquet mallet as a torch, the grades 3, 4 and 5 classes went outside and lined up in four groups across the field with the participation of the principal and teachers. Each child and all the teachers ran with the torch, high fived the next runner and passed the torch.
Flicker the Clown (team member Anvita from Toronto) and Nilasha from Ottawa took turns running loops with the students.
Many students ran with a smile!
A great school with great runners!
