Canada 5 October: Creston - Nelson
TEAM A
Gratitude to the proprietors of the Sunset Motel for the free accommodations in Creston. It is truly appreciated.
Sunday morning, very quiet, very peaceful.
We were running through the mountains…
…collecting moments: a flower,
a smile, a friendly honk, a waving hand behind the windscreen.
We passed through many little villages
and sang our song again and again
this time for Shannon we met on the way.
One of the highlights of our day was a short visit at the Yasodhara Ashram
We were in a hurry, because we had to catch our ferry.
But we took time to run through the beautiful gardens that lead us to the temple of the Ashram.
The temple was a very uplifting experience. We felt the peace and tranquility…
(But we didn’t take a picture from inside.)
…these few seconds of silence reminded us that it is worth to continue on the journey from less to more light, where you will find deep fulfillment and peace…
This year, Yasoshara Ashram celebrates 24 years of being a centre of Light and inspiration. Founded by Swami Sivananda Radha and now under the caring leadership of Swami Radhananda, the Ashram continues to thrive in dedication to selfless-service, compassion and bringing quality into daily life.

Then we rushed to the ferry and we made it, just in time…
TEAM B
Special thanks to the owners of the Skimmerhorn Inn in Creston for putting us up with complimentary accommodations..
It was a cold and rainy morning as we departed from Creston.
We followed the road along the Kootenay River up, down, and around, taking in one breathtaking scene after another.
There were so many twists and turns, you couldnít see more than 50m ahead to see if the road either climbed or dropped.
And always to our left you could hear the heavy, rolling sounds of the river. It was so energizing that everyone ran their miles very enthusiastically, fast along that stretch.
And even in the wet and cold we encountered people who stopped and held the torch
including tourists from Greece who doubled back twice to hold the Torch and Sharon and Joyce who took the Torch along the road for a stroll.
At the Balfour Ferry crossing one team took a break while waiting for the 12:15, and was pleasantly surprised to find
that the owner had said that she had visited the Harmony Run website and was thrilled to hold the Torch.
And the run into Nelson continued with the same up, down, and around path that the team was learning was indigenous to this region.
After we crossed the impressive steel-girded bridge into the City, Yuyudhan ended the day with a dip into the frigid waters of the Kootenay. Yuyudhan seemed fine but his dive nearly caused heart-failure in two elderly observersÖ or so they said with a smile.
After we settled into our lodgings at the Prestige Mountain Resort we enjoyed a wonderful meal at Baba's Indian Restaurant who made a special favor to open up for us after-hours. The meal was fantastic! It was so good, in fact, that even Abichal was so stuffed he could only finish half of his dessert. Anvita helped him complete his mission.
