Canada 1 June: Kingston and Ottawa
The weather in Kingston is dreary, wet and grey on this morning of early June. It is our last morning in town and, despite the weather, we are warmed by the welcoming spirits of the teachers and students of Lancaster Drive Public School.
The kids were absolutely giddy as they passed the torch and gleefully shouted our slogan: “world harmony begins with me.”
Three of the school’s top athletes, long-distance runners Andrew Bowles and Jennifer Davidson, and sprinter Lewis Ward, conveyed the torch around the field outside the school and returned to the applause of their peers.
On the preceding day, these three athletes had represented their school in a local track meet and won the day in the 100 metre relay!

Another World Harmony Run event was taking place in Ottawa at the same time. Live from the road report by Robin Thompson:
At the Canadian Montessori Academy, every single child – from the toddler class of 3 year-olds to the middle school class of 11 year-olds, greeted the runners with a paper torch.
All the students and teachers made a wish for World Harmony and there was a ceremony with the torch in the auditorium.
The choir and the whole school sang a song about peace written by Principal Sherie De Mel; this song is on a CD the middle school recorded to raise money for the Tsunami Response Fund. These children also support an orphanage with the proceeds of their CD sales.

Children between ages 4 and 13 at Hawthorne Public School joined in with Harmony visualization exercises in their school auditorium.
In the schoolyard, 16 children took turns running with the torch. Each child held the torch with lots of eagerness.
