Bahamas 22 February: Nassau
Dr. Davidson Hepburn, President of the 35th General Conference of UNESCO, gets to spends some time with his dear friend and former UN staff member Adhiratha Keefe.
Boijayanti from Puerto Rico and Ashirvad from Brazil enjoy getting to know Dr. Hepburn.
Wyndham Nassau Resort General Manager, Roger Swadish holds the torch as we thank him and his staff for their kindess and generosity in hosting us for our stay in the Bahamas. It is only with the support of such public minded businesses such as the Wyndham that we are able to bring the event to the Bahamas.
Bahamas liaison Shatapatri Mahar presents Mr. Swadish with our certificate of appreciation.
Next on our agenda was to thank Ms. Oria Wood-Knowles of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture for the incredible effort she and her department rendered in bringing the World Harmony Run to the Bahamas. All the planning and implementation of all our events in the Bahamas is entirely due the the efforts of Oria and her team at the Ministry. Words cannot express our gratitude.
Oria's assistant Meoshi was invaluable in ensuring all our arrangements went smoothly. Thank you.
Youth, Sports and Culture Minister, Mr. Charles Maynard (second from right), receives the torch as well as our founder Sri Chinmoy's paintings - a series entitled "Paintings for World-Harmony." Also in the photo from left to right - Ms. Oria Wood-Knowles, Shatapatri Mahar, Permanent Secretary Mr. Archie Nairn, World Harmony Run Executive Director Salil Wilson, Minister Charles Maynard and Boijayanti Gomze-Badillo.
Minister Maynard receives an orchestral arrangement of the song Sri Chinmoy composed for the Bahamas.
Teams members Ashirvad (Brazil) and Adhiratha (USA) are all smiles as they head out to the airport.
We were happy to enjoy a chat with some fellow hotel guests who were interested in what we were doing.
So that's all from the Bahamas (for now) - unbelieveable. Stay tuned for the European launch in Ireland.
Team Members:
Salil Wilson (Australia), Jayashri Wyatt (Canada), Gabriel Pelletier (Canada), Shatapatri Mahar (Canada), Adhiratha Keefe (USA), Ashirvad Zaiantchick (Brazil), Boijayanti Gomez-Badillo (Puerto Rico)
