Bahamas 18 February: Nassau and Freeport, Grand Bahama

Today we split into two teams. Our team had the more leaisurely schedule of a 2.00 pm visit to the College of the Bahamas.

We started with a short run along the beach with some new Bahamian friends.

Jayashri and Boijayanti were delighted to get some miles in for the day.

Ashirvad was all smiles after eating some delicious corn.

Our driver "Blue" might have got his name from the remarkable color of the waters which surround the Bahamas.

Students at the College of the Bahamas made sure we received an enthusiastic welcome.

After a short run to the Wellness Centre the students listened attentively to our experiences and shared their own hopes and dreams for a more harmonious world.

Each student had an opportunity to hold the torch and make a wish or prayer for harmony.

Thank you to the students and staff of the College of the Bahamas for the kind and generous welcome.

After the formal proceedings I had the good fortune to get well and truly beaten in a game of table-tennis.

Our second team had the good fortune to visit Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama. The Royal Bahamas Police very kindly provided the transportation in their brand new plane.

When we arrived on the Grand Bahamas the officials that met us proudly informed us that in the Grand Bahama things are done in Grand style. We were not disappointed - it was more than GRAND!

As we left the airport we had a relay run and representatives from Bishop Michael Eldon School.

Feeling peace in our hearts.

Kids-R-Us Director, Ms. Sharon Thompson, hosted us at their school.

Our Grand Bahama coordinator Mr. Cecil Thompson, Assistant Director of Education and the staff of Grand Bahama Chapter of Ministry of Sports Youth, and Culture did a wonderful job.

To the delight of the students Principal Carla Brown-Roker of St. Paul's Methodist College danced with students to the music of the Grand Bahama Youth Choir.

The beautiful voices of the Grand Bahama Youth Choir.

The entire youth choir accompanied the whole day.

Some of the students from Tabernacle Bapist Academy.

Residents at Centrals Home for the elderly weclomed us into their home and into their hearts.

We are able to build a better world on the foundations already laid by the hard work of the earlier generations. So we thank you for all thank you enabled.

Hugh Campbell Primary school carried the torch for a few steps.

Maurice Moore Primary School joined us to celebrate World Peace.

Andrea James (left) Margo Lockhart (right) and Nerissa Lockhart (not shown) with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture - spots division worked tirelessly to make this event an overwhelimng success.

The students from the international school were one of the numerous schools that met with us.

We had so much support yesterday it was truly remarkable.

Grand Bahama Youth Choir Director and cultural icon Kevin Tomlinson (centre) with harmony friends.

Special thanks the Grand Bahama police force for keeping us safe all day.

One of the Junkanoo that accompanied us and ensured we had a spring in our step.

There were so many smiles it made it feel like less miles.

We literally danced all the way to the airport. What a truly remarkable and enriching experience. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated.
