Austria 15 September: Amstetten - Purkersdorf

Rain, rain go to Spain! Nice idea, but it didn't work...

Luckily we brought good gear and lots of humour, so the day didn't turn bad. Actually, we had lots of fun!

We started in Amstetten and were farewelled by the city representative.

We arrived at "Elsa Brändström" and the kids gave us an enthusiastic welcome!

Despite the rain, the kids bravely endured our presentation...

Did you get all the stamps?

We arrived in Ybbs and were warmly received by the mayor...

Kids from the sports secondary school joined us for quite some distance...

In Melk, where the old dynasty of the Babenberger ruled  a thousand years ago, the city sport representative, an old friend of the Run, carried the torch into the city and received us in the city hall...

Shamita enjoys the rain...

The castle of Albrechtsberg was our next stop and the owners welcomed us cheerfully.

In the afternoon we reached St. Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria. The mayor gave a very nice speech and kids from the International School joined us for a short run...

and more stamps...

Still one more stamp...

I take XL size, so what?

Waiting for the bus? No, just for the torch...

The deputy mayor of Pressbaum welcomed us and we were served great snacks (and hot tea!)...

In the evening we reached Purkersdorf, our last stop for the day. Mayor Karl Schlögl - former Austrian Minister for Inner Affairs - received our international team.

As the meeting went on, the mayor had to say goodbye, however the deputy mayor then joined us.

After a long, cold day in the rain we really enjoyed hot showers  and a great meal in Vienna...
