USA 20 May: Carter, OK - Clarendon, TX

All the teams started out early today after having fried in the sun the day before.

Bansidhar expresses his happiness in reaching the great state of Texas - it is a long way from his home state of Hawaii - but he was delighted nonetheless.

Jitavrata walking through the endless wheatfields that have accompanied us the last few days.

Yuyudhan met 14 year old Kevin in Reid, Oklahoma. Kevin was so excited he ran all the way to the van. Great to have him join us.

Yuyudhan and Vajra spend some time with the local children who came out to cheer us on.

Salil was running along route 287 towards Clarendon, our destination, when he spotted three fellows running with an escort vehicle in the other direction. It turns out they were also doing a relay - from Amarillo to Dallas in recognition of the Special Olympics. We swapped T-shirts and wished each other well.

Vajra enjoys a well earned drink at the end of a long hot day.

One of the highlights of the US run - we spent the afternoon relaxing at our accommodation for tonight - the Bar H Dude Ranch. This working ranch offers you "an opportunity to share life on a working Texas cattle ranch."

All the people we met were repeat visitors and were eagerly preparing for a cattle round-up starting in a few days. With some guests from as far away as England and Germany - these volunteer cowhands couldn't say enough good things about their (and our) hosts Frank and Dee Dee Hommel.

(Left to right) Dee Dee and Frank Hommel - our hosts, Richard (Germany), Carolyn (England), Rett and Cori (Frank and Dee Dee's daughter) with Emmari their 7 month old daughter.

Yuyudhan and Salil enjoying a rare moment of peace and quiet.

Sheriff Wyatt Earp (Vladimir) surveys the town - "Which ain't big enough for the two of us pardner."

One of the house pets...

– Salil
