USA 19 June: Crescent City, CA to Port Orford, OR
Even though it was freezing, Kasper dove right into his first encounter with the ocean.
Video of the first month in USAToday we experienced
Something terrific:
After 5,800 miles
And two months of running,
Let me be more specific,
We have finally reached
The mighty Pacific!
Arpan
Just to say the simple words, ` From coast to coast`, is like a most haunting melody in a Harmony Runner’s ear. To reach the West Coast with witnesses who are no less than two gigantic oceans, makes one forget the hard times and instead hold on to the vastness and breathtaking beauty and generosity that we have experienced during the last few weeks.
Bangshidhar’s Hawaiian Island heart was re-energized by that salty air and blue vastness.
From the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean through cities, villages, forests, deserts, canyons, mountains and everything else one can imagine that we have seen and experienced step by step on this amazing trip through America, is definitely something worth valuing in silence for some time.
We began our day with a visit from a clan of Elk serenely grazing in our campsite.
Silence, to let it run through you once more;
If you are absolutely quiet and motionless, these magnificent creatures will allow you to observe them up-close and personal.
Silence about everything we have experienced. The people we met and will not forget,
There are few things as sweet as being serenaded in the morning while lying in your tent in the woods.
the countryside we ran through with every single step that led us nowhere else but forward; forward to reach the other side of the country and be presented with an ocean of satisfaction and joy.
In the mostly untouched natural environment of Oregon, the web of life is easily experienced in all of its intricate beauty.
Maybe that is the reason why Gold Beach, Oregon, is a special place for us to come back to. The name says everything it means to us: the ‘golden’ other shore of this vast country.
Jim and Linda Jaggard at the Breakers Gold Beach Motel welcomed us with such love and kindness, offering us four rooms for the night with an expansive ocean view from each.
Dewey, the owner of Spinners Restaurant in Gold Beach, was also quite generous and kind in offering all of us a fantastic meal including drinks and dessert.
It was like family when we walked in and met the kind waitresses, three of whom spoke Russian with some of our Russian speaking runners. The service was great and the food superb: a great place to eat here in Gold Beach with an incredible ocean view while dining as well.
Where the stories that you are reading come from. (Well except this one.)
As we run north up along the rugged and beautiful Oregon Coast towards Seattle, Washington, we will try to assimilate the tremendous sense of harmony in nature that is being offered so powerfully here to carry with us and share with all those we meet on our way back home.
