USA 25 May: Clines Corners, NM to Espanola, NM
Images of New Mexico
A windy campsite perched over 4,000 feet high,
With views of the sprawling mountains ahead.
A small, harmonious community of animal friends:
A restful pig, inquisitive goat,
Mother duck protecting her newly laid egg.
The vastness of New Mexico’s desert plains
As we climb the hills towards Santa Fe, City of Faith,
An artistic jewel set in an idyllic setting
Of nature’s beauty and earth’s grand designs,
Adobe edifices and ancient shrines.
As we run to the eager children of Tomorrow’s Sun.
From ages 8 to 80, ageless and glowing,
We share with our new friends
The Harmony of life reflected in their own faces and hearts.
And we gratefully carry that with us
As we proceed down the road with the Torch
Reminding us that everywhere we go,
We have faith and we know
That Harmony in nature and mankind alike
Is just waiting to burst forth
Like a rainbow of color and life,
In a sky that is ever-changing
For a future world of light and love,
No strife, no strife.

Espanola, we cannot believe your generosity of Spirit!
There is something about this small town north of Santa Fe that has left us so impressed. Such a response to the World Harmony Run is hardly seen first thing in the morning.
Radio station KDCE invited a couple of us for a small interview today. Ray Casias kindly welcomed us to do an interview with him about the run.
Later, as we were running through Espanola, Adrian Wagner, a local college student joined us for 5 miles. As we were running with him, Brandon Cata, a police officer, pulled up in his patrol car and offered to escort us along the road where there were no safe shoulders. Just as he started to escort us, his friend Fran Nelson pulled up in front of the runners and then we had two escorts. Finally, Jennifer from the Espanola Local News came out and took some photos.
We thank you, Espanola, for opening your hearts and welcoming the Harmony Runners so sincerely and graciously. We also look forward to Adrian coming out again in the morning to run with another team of runners as we head north of Espanola towards Colorado.

We would like to thank all in the Santa Fe area who have made our run through this enchanting city a most memorable one. Our dear friend Sunamita has worked so hard to feed us, get us wonderful lodging and arrange for such fantastic meetings with so many people here. Without her we would not have had such an incredibly enjoyable experience of harmony with Santa Fe. We also were so glad to meet Teresa, a wonderful soul and great photographer.
The hotels, La Posada and Hotel Santa Fe have been so gracious and kind to let us stay in their world class accommodations. This gives us a better rest to move on down the road as we run with the Harmony Torch into the mountains. The media has also been very kind to us. We are so grateful to Bob Brown of ABC TV for his enthusiastic coverage of our event in Santa Fe. Also Jeff of the Albuquerque Journal and Tina of the Santa Fe New Mexican have given us much joy from their involvement also.
The Alvord School in Santa Fe, with all its staff and lovely children really warmed our hearts as well. Their enthusiasm and harmonious participation was really a great gift to us in this wonderful city.
Those who came to visit us there, including some of the parents, and especially our good friend Vic Jameson and his friend Maurice also gave us so much joy.
To see people go out of their way in the middle of a weekday to greet us really leaves a lasting impression in our hearts. We thank Vic and his wife Frances who could not make it here also for their wonderful homemade cookies. Needless to say, the delicious cookies did not last very long.
Thanks also to Pat Immel, a local musician who plays coronet and trumpet, for his selfless kindness in helping us to get around town. We met him in a local shopping center parking lot looking for directions and phone numbers and he kindly went out of his way to help us. He is a versatile trumpet player who plays on many albums and in many club performances with all types of music. We wish him many future gigs filled with harmony.
Santa Fe has shown us its beauty its heart of generosity as we run through the wonderful and glorious state of New Mexico. It is difficult to leave here, but the Torch must go on.
