USA 29 July: Lemoyne, OH to Ashland, OH
Posters presented to the team by the kids in Fremont. THANKYOU.
We had a very peaceful night spent at the Days Inn of Perrysburg thanks to the kindness of the management there who offered complimentary rooms for us, our morning team set out on a relatively cool morning as we slowly make our way, mile by mile, back to the east coast. After quite a few days of busy schedules with ceremonies and media, today was a bit of a break for us.
We (Jowan, Sunabin and myself) got an early start today and ran through some gorgeous farmland literally sparkling in the morning light. Each farm was immaculately tidy with not a corn plant nor a plough blade out of place.
Cornrows
Big red barns dotted the farmland at regular intervals with cornrow that stretch to the horizons. The running conditions were perfect with a warm sun very little humidity and fairly quiet roads. Yes, today was a good day.
Kids in Fremont listening to the World Harmony Runners.
In Fremont about 30 kids under the supervision of Mark Glotzpebecker greeted us. Each one held the torch and then we had a quick run around the block which turned into a helter skelter race.
The Women’s team all wearing Vilupti’s farewall gifts.
We were very grateful for the replacement drinks they so kindly gave us. Their enthusiasm for the run carried us through our remaining miles.
The men’s team proudly wearing the new blue jackets Vilupti very kindly go us as gift as she is leaving tomorrow.
In Clyde we swapped vehicles with Arpan, Blazej and Prabhakar who had made a great lunch for the team, including avocado sandwiches. This means we got the RV for the evening meal.
Jowan running through Ohio.
Fortunately Jowan took charge and we ended up with a 5 star meal of cream of corn, ground beef (Soy of course), perogies, stir fry and salad. The team seemed happy.
Vilupti presenting the boys with a shoe freshener and explaining its merits.
And so ended another harmony day.
