USA 17 July: Windom, MN To Le Sueur, MN

We left Shalom Hill Farm in the morning after a wonderful breakfast. There were a few other groups of people there who were eating in the dining room, asking us what our event was all about. We had a wonderful discussion with them as they asked very meaningful questions. When asked by one woman about how far we were going today, we answered, “To Le Sueur”. She did not hear us correctly and then asked, “’Til you’re sore?” we all laughed because of the irony of the error, or rather the accuracy of the misinterpretation. I promised her that I would mention her ‘joke’ in the story today. I am still pondering the truth of her ‘joke’.

The temperature soared again today and by noon it was in the 90’s. Luckily I was finished running before 1 p.m.

We then had to drive to St. Paul to run the bases with some children in the semi-professional baseball stadium.

There were lots of kids and still a little bit of the crowd of spectators left after the game was over.

We entered the stadium with the Torch to the announcement over the large stadium speakers. There was a bit of excitement with the children and some of the parents as we passed the Torch around and took some photos.

We have many friends in Minneapolis who took us to their homes and allowed us to get some rest and cool down before dinner. Dr. Meghabhuti Roth offered his home for us to get some physical therapy treatment from a very experienced physical therapist Jim Olsen. Rarely do doctors make house calls these days, especially after hours or on Sundays. But our good friend Jim took care of us, undoing some of the ‘knots’ that have tightened some of our muscles up through all our running and driving over the past months. His daughter Erin kindly treated the women runners afterwards.

Sharanya and Pritika prepared a wonderful meal for us complete with great local ice cream.

We had a good-bye party for Atulya who has to go back to the office, and Damon, who have been with us since the first week but now must go back to work. We are extremely grateful to them for their miles and smiles.

Damon has run the most out of all of us so far and Atulya has put up all the web pages and has gotten most of our accommodations for us.

He also is the coordinator of the local coordinators, managing all the aspects of the intricate plans on a daily basis. He is also a very good photographer and has displayed many of his photos on our website.

As I write this daily log, we are still at the home of Sharanya and Pritika, finishing up the ice cream and figuring out tomorrow’s busy and complex schedule. We are also waiting for a call from Sunabin, our Russian friend and new runner who is arriving at the airport any minute.

Life on the road never seems to be still for too long as people come and go and the Torch keeps shining on new territory everyday, reflecting the light and harmony of all the people who get involved each day, here and around the world.

Arpan and Team Harmony
