USA 21 June: Port Orford, OR to Florence, OR
Today we ran into Coos Bay and made our way to a Boy’s and Girl’s Club where about 50 children and staff members were eagerly awaiting our arrival. The Director, Angie Hill, had organized a great group of children and adults who asked some very interesting questions during our presentation.
We introduced ourselves as usual and sang the World Harmony Run song for them after our debut at singing a song that Pujari composed to the music of ‘This Land is Your Land’.
Tim from the CBS affiliate was there to cover the story including an interview about the Run as some of the children ran with Josef from the Czech Republic.
We also were happy and grateful that the newspaper, ‘The World’ came to do a story on us. The media had been so good to us here in Oregon. They have taken it upon themselves to present this positive and healthy approach to world harmony that we are trying to share with others. Having the media cover the story makes in that much easier to share this important information and inspiration.
Slava, from Moldova, tells us, “Today we met two nice families: Barbara, George and their son Danny from St. Petersburg, Florida (see photo below from left to right) and Walter & Wendy from Oregon as they were taking an evening walk on the beach.
“As it happened, Damon and Salil went to take a swim in the not-so-warm Pacific Ocean, while I opted for staying dry and warm while enjoying the sunset. Wendy and Barbara were curious to know more about the World Harmony Run inscription on our Dodge van and approached me for details. They both enthusiastically expressed their whole-hearted support of this grass-roots initiative. These spontaneous encounters are what give us, the runners, the inspiration to carry on with the Run. In fact, this is what the Run is all about: sharing with people from all walks of life like Wendy and Barbara our inspiration for a more harmonious and better world. I feel Wendy and Barbara felt in their hearts the simple yet lofty message of the Run and this is why a conversation developed. Barbara and Wendy, please stay in touch with us via this website and, who knows, our paths may cross again!”
After the ceremony, we had to split up the teams until tomorrow. Some of the runners had to move on, running up north on rte. 101.
Four of us had to drive off the route to take Morris to the airport so he can go home and work. They really need him now but we are glad that he stayed with us for 5 weeks and contributed tremendously to this team and to world harmony.
