Switzerland 3 April: Ponte Tresa - Bellinzona
Ponte Tresa, small but beautiful town on the bank of a glacier lake become our starting point today.
We gathered together with many children from Swiss and Italian schools accompanied by the mayors from both Italy and Switzerland.
The first ceremony was the official crossing the border that is in fact a bridge. It is not just a bridge.
Since 1992 it has been called PONTE PER LA PACE SRI CHINMOY- Peace bridge of Sri Chinmoy dedicated to peace and harmony by the name of the founder of the World harmony Run.
Just after the border one could be tempted to take a smiling train to our next stop Lugano, but we kept on running.
Lugano is quite charming city also on the lake.
We were welcomed in majestic city hall by City Councillor Giovanni Cansani with very hearty speech. Cansani told us, that this place was opened only on special occasions and that he was very happy to have the World Harmony Run here.
As we continued more less north soon we found ourselves surrounded by the mountains covered with snow.
After few more kilometres in village called Rivera, at the feet of Monte Ceneri we were running with the the teacher Mario Costa and his school children.
Than we continued surrounded by mountains.
When we were in Italy it truly felt like late spring, but here just first spring flowers started to blossom.
City of Bellinzona appeared in front of us down in the valley.
We would like to thank very much a nice family, who let us stay in their house tonight. A beautiful farm up in Swiss hills, sheep, cheese. Swiss paradise...
