SanMarino 29 March: Local event

Today half of the team drove North East to the landlocked Republic of San Marino for a local event. As we emerged from the morning fog in the region of Rimini we saw the silhouette of the city and it's three castles perched high above us at an altitude of 750 metres.

our friends from the Gruppo Podistico San Marino

It was a clear beautiful morning with a stunning view of the Adriatic Sea in the distance. Local runners from Gruppo Podistico San Marino led by our old friend Mr. Livio Barulli, joined us for the steep ten kilometre climb up to the city.

Children from Scuola Media Statale joined us for 2 kilometres and welcomed us at their school building. Present at the school ceremony were Secretary of State for Tourism Dott. Crescentini, Mr Barulli - Capitano di Castello di Citta and the Capitano di Castello di Faetano.

we enjoyed a quite impressive view...

We continued up the steep zig zagging road along the city walls and to the top of San Marino where the city cliffs drop vertically revealing a panorama of the countryside below.

As on this day we split our teams, our team then continued to the most beautiful city in the World - Florence while the second team were heading through the region of Toscana.

In the evening we were invited by our dear friends - the local Firenze organisers - to a delicious home cooked meal.
