2005 Road Reports

14 August 2005 : Johannesburg

In August 2005 the World Harmony Run touched South Africa. The team consisting of runners from South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe, USA and China.

The idea behind the run was to link people from Johannesburg and Pretoria together by running thorugh areas where people of different means, backgrounds and cultures live. What we found was that no matter where we went we were touched by the warm heart of the South African people.

Our three day run started on day one outside the Johannesburg Zoo in Saxonwald in central Johannesburg, from there we ran to Alexandra where we visited 2 schools. The following day we ran through Tembisa in the north east of Johannesburg and again visited a number of schools where both the students and teachers only complaint was that the run was not big enough! On our third and final day we ran through the countryside towards Pretoria finishing on the steps of parliament after meeting a city Councillor outside City Hall.
