Greece 5 May: Thessaloniki

Busy roads, sun, ancient ruins, street life: this is Thessaloniki.

The second largest city in Greece, located in the North, is a melting pot of cultures. Many influences over the last centuries have shaped this city. Therefore our expectations about running here were pretty high! The day before we left the regular route and drove to Thessaloniki.

We started our run through downtown at the famous Aristotelos - Square and had our first stop at the monument of Alexander the Great, where the deputy mayor greeted us.

The local police did a marvelous job by guiding us through the busy roads and we finally reached a school where a few hundred kids excitedly cheered our team!

Two presentations to the younger and older kids, respectively, ended our official day.

We spent the afternoon high above Thessaloniki having a wonderful picnic in the woods and enjoying the spare time...
