Cyprus 15 June

As we drove towards the coast, not a cloud was to be seen in the sky and it was quite hot by mid-morning.

All in all we had a leisurely day but in the morning the whole team ran together along a long stretch of road parallel to the coast. With no cloud cover the only thing to cool us was the occasional sea breeze. In the distance sprinklers whizzed round to quench the thirsty vine fields. Other fields were bald and yellow after being harvested. Fortunately we stopped halfway to re-hydrate ourselves before confronting some uphill work.

After our work out we left straight for the nearest beach. No sooner had we found a perfect location than we were running towards the sea. Barefooted we had to run quickly over the hot dark grey sand of the beach. It was extremely satisfying to go for a cool dip right after the run. We enjoyed lunch in the same location where the restaurant looked over the beach. With appetites fulfilled we found a passive game to play in order to entertain ourselves. It was the equivalent to bowls only with juggling balls and on short prickly grass. The evening passed quickly and there ended our Cyprus expedition as we departed for the airport. After two sun-filled and fun-filled days we flew back to Athens to continue our Greek adventure.
