Activities for Children

Each year the World Harmony Run visits countless schools around the world. Students get to meet the runners, hold the torch and express their own hopes and dreams for a more harmonious world. Here are a few ways children and schools can participate.

School Activity Literature. English or French

Running

Sport is a powerful instrument for fostering harmony and establishing bonds fo friendship among the diverse peoples of the world. We invite you to run a few steps, a few blocks or a few miles with the torch. Organize a run in your school yard, or cheer the World Harmony Run team as they pass through your community.

Take a look at the Canadian Route to see when the Torch will be in your region. You can arrange for your school to have a visit by the World Harmony Run Team by contacting us at: canada <at> worldharmonyrun <dot> org or by phone: 1-877-243-6433

Creative Arts

Write a poem or short story on what harmony means to you and share them with your class. You can send your creation to us and we will include it in our global gallery.

Paint a picture, mural or banner on the theme of harmony for your school or community. You can display these works of art in your school and send them to us to be included in our international exhibit of Harmony Art.

Sing or perform at a school assembly works on the theme of harmony. Create your own arrangement of the World Harmony Run theme song, and we will include it in our collection of international performances.

Sharing

Learn about the diversity and richness of peoples and cultures from around the world. Study a globe or map and identify the countries, continents and oceans. What languages do they speak? What do they eat? What is special about their culture? How are they the same as people in your own country? Share what you have learned with your class. Make a class collage or art project showing many cultures. Send us your school project on world harmony and we will post it on our website: canada <at> worldharmonyrun <dot> org

Hold a school assembly on the theme of World Harmony. Include the richness of the cultural diversity in your own community. Display artwork and banners on the theme of World Harmony. Include performances of poetry and song on the theme of World Harmony.
