Today 18 members of the World Harmony Run team visited St. Gregorius Orthodox Church in Mississauga. Our visit began with a short run by some of the team members.

After the Sunday service was completed, WHR team member Shivaram Trichur thanked Mr. Eppachen and the congregation for allowing us to bring the World Harmony Run to them today. Seth spoke a few words about the vision of the World Harmony Run and the symbolic meaning of the passing of the torch. We then sang our World Harmony Run song and passed the torch among those who had gathered in the church hall.

Father Pothical gave us all his blessings and wished us well with the run. We were unable to accept an invitation for lunch, but gladly took some cake with us. This wonderful congregation invited us back to their beautiful church again next year and we look forward to it.

Our next stop was the Kali Bari Temple just across the street. We were greeted by Probhat Raha, who invited us to attend the end of the service; we were honoured to do so. Shivaram Thrichur then introduced the runners and Dave Lemieux shared the history of the World Harmony Run.

We sang for the people in attendance and our performance was very warmly received. Seth was asked to take the torch to the altar and people came up one by one to make their own personal prayer for world harmony.

Swami Jyotrmayananda and Swami Parameshananda from the Vedanta Society of Toronto (part of Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Society) also held the torch and gave their blessings. Afterwards we were invited to share a wonderful Indian meal with the congregation.

Aujourd'hui, 18 membres de la Course de l'harmonie mondiale ont visité l'église orthodoxe St-Gregorius de Mississauga. Notre visite a débuté par une courte course par certains des membres de notre équipe.

Après la messe, un des membres de l'Équipe, Shivaram Trichur, a remercié M. Eppachen et la congrégation de nous avoir permis d'apporter la Course de l'harmonie mondiale jusqu'à eux. Seth se prononça sur la vision de la Course et sur le sens du passage symbolique du Flambeau. Nous avons ensuite entonné en chœur notre chanson-thème et passé le Flambeau à ceux qui se trouvaient réunis dans l'entrée de l'église.

Le Père Pothical nous offrit sa bénédiction et nous souhaita bonne chance dans notre course. Bien que nous n'ayons pu accepter une invitation à rester pour dîner, nous avons toutefois volontiers emporté du gâteau qui nous était offert. Cette merveilleuse congrégation nous invita à revenir à leur église encore une fois l'an prochain, ce que nous comptons certainement faire.

Notre prochain arrêt était au temple Kali Bari, juste de l'autre côté de la rue. Nous y avons été accueillis par M.Probhat Raha, qui nous invita à assister à la fin du service religieux en cours; ce que nous avons été honorés de pouvoir faire. Shivaram Thrichur présenta ensuite les coureurs et Dave Lemieux partagea l'histoire de la Course de l'harmonie mondiale.

Nous avons chanté pour ceux qui s'y trouvaient et notre présentation fut chaleureusement accueillie. Seth se fit demander d'apporter le Flambeau à l'autel et les gens s'y succédèrent pour formuler leur propre prière personnelle pour l'harmonie mondiale.

Swami Jyotrmayananda et Swami Parameshananda de la Vedanta Society of Toronto (filiale de la Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Society) ont aussi tenu le Flambeau et ont offert leur bénédiction. Nous avons par la suite été invités à partager un somptueux repas indien avec l'ensemble de la congrégation.
